Role Summary

A leading façade specialist contractor is seeking an experienced Façade Designer to join their team in Cardiff.

This role will take responsibility for façade design from pre-construction through to construction, ensuring designs align with the architect's intent while meeting the technical requirements of the project.

You will play a key role within the project team, collaborating closely with internal departments, clients, and manufacturers to deliver compliant and buildable façade solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead façade design from pre-construction through to project completion

Produce detailed design drawings and specifications for façade systems
*

Develop 2D and 3D models, sketches, and technical drawings to illustrate design concepts and installation details
*

Create fabrication drawings for the procurement and manufacturing process
*

Compile project handover documentation including O&M manuals
*

Liaise with manufacturers and project teams to ensure correct distribution of documentation
*

Conduct design risk assessments in collaboration with the project team
*

Attend design meetings, workshops, and site visits to review progress and resolve design challenges
*

Work closely with project engineers to ensure structural calculations and engineering requirements are satisfied
*

Ensure all façade designs comply with building regulations, industry standards, and relevant guidelines

Requirements

*

Experience working as a Façade Designer / Façade Engineer / Architectural Designer within the façade or curtain walling sector
*

Strong experience producing technical drawings and façade detailing
*

Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit (or similar design software)
*

Knowledge of façade systems including curtain walling, cladding, glazing, and rainscreen systems
*

Understanding of UK building regulations and façade design standards
*

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with project teams

Desirable

*

Experience working on commercial, residential or mixed-use developments
*

Experience producing fabrication drawings
*

Familiarity with BIM environments
